Five Smooth Stones

Five smooth stones from a babbling brook,
They seemed to be just right
Five smooth stones young David took
To sling with all of his might

Goliath was big, over nine feet tall
With a spear like weaver’s beam
“Send a man to fight,” he told King Saul
Across the Elah stream

His voice like thunder filled the land
But his challenge was unmet
Not one of Israel’s men would stand
And face Goliath’s threat

So David took his sling and stones
And crossed the riverbed
Just David now must stand alone
Saul’s army all had fled

“I come to you in the name of the Lord,”
Young David shouted out
“You may have an awesome sword,
But God has greater clout.”

He took a stone and said a prayer
And slung it with all of his might
It hit Goliath’s forehead square
The Lord had won the fight

He wasn’t big, he wasn’t tall, he wasn’t even a soldier at all
But five smooth stones from the river he took, and made the giant fall
He could pray and he could sing
And he could twirl his home-made sling

When He made the monkey’s face

God's Gonna Fix It Someday

The Bible tells us about a man who lived here long ago
He was rich in flocks and herds and land, this godly man was Job
Then the devil came a callin', he was knocking at Job's front door
"Your days of peace and happiness are gone forevermore."

So the devil got right in there and turned things upside down
He made Job's life one long nightmare, with trouble all around
First he lost his cattle, the Sabeans made a violent raid.
Next his sheep and camels, were hit by the Chaldean brigade
Then he struck his children, as they sat to eat a meal
A big wind came and smote the house Job's trials were unreal.

So keep praying Job, keep waiting Job,
