The Resurrection And The Life

They found Him in Gethsemane
Praying for the victory
His blood-stained brow one couldn’t miss
Tainted by the traitor’s kiss

To Pilate’s judgment hall they came
False accusers casting blame
The purple robe His royal gown
Thorny wreath His only crown

The led Him up to Calvary
Nailed Him to an ugly tree
Disciples fled, as did the sun
Very few heard “It is done.”

Then from the cross they took Him down
To Joseph’s tomb, the only sound
Was weeping women, Roman men
Rolled the stone to shut Him in

But when He rose up from the grave
This advice to us He gave
Don’t forget in this world’s strife
I’m the Resurrection and the Life!
